I Igrew up in Kansas, land of wheat fields and big sky. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Kansas, life events rooted me in Atlanta's urban bustle. With Kansas in my heart, I found a way to make a home in the metropolis where I enjoyed a 20 year career in graphic design and art direction in the commercial photography arena. Steeped in their symbiotic relationship, I learned the importance of resplendent lighting and selective focus. The embrace of these elements is a glorious weave that appears in each of my paintings.
Early in our relationship, my husband asked me about my life's dream. To his astonishment, I told him becoming a mom was my highest calling. I realize now that what I meant to say, more broadly, is my ultimate dream is to create.... be it the furniture scheme in a sun room, an anniversary dinner, happy and contributing children or beautiful art. I have toiled for hours to make a bowl of peanuts look like a Raphael masterpiece and to make ceramic birds look as if they could take flight. It always comes down to the braiding of exquisite light and provocative focus. And a finished piece we Kansans simply call pretty.
